Hello! My name is Maria Zapata, and I'm here to tell you about my Arrupe College experience.
What is your degree and how/why did you select your degree?
I am in the Pre-Nursing Program. I choose this degree because nursing is just the gift that keeps on giving. I always knew I wanted to do something in the medical field and nursing is a profession that is not just about fixing patients but also about taking care of them on a deeper level.
What does it mean to go to a Jesuit Institution?
Going to a Jesuit institution has challenged me to grow both intellectually and personally. It’s not just about academics, it’s helped me develop values like service and justice. It has shown me how to use those these values to make a difference, I’ve learned to think deeply and care for others.
What professor should a new student absolutely take a class with and why?
Definitely Dr. Burke! He is such a smart professor and really prepares you for advanced writing you will do in college.
What's the best thing you've done since coming to Arrupe?
The best thing I've done is to be more involved with Arrupe by being a student ambassador. It's a great opportunity and it come to my life when I most needed it to believe in myself.
Connect with me to ask any questions you may have about life at Arrupe, classes and professors, clubs and activities, or anything else!
